Production Engineer

I am actively assisting my leading Aerospace precision Engineering client who are based in Bournemouth.

My client is actively seeking a Production Engineer who has a proven track Record within an Aerospace/ Technical manufacturing environment, and experience with composite materials.

Purpose of the Production Engineer - Aerospace position:

Reporting to Programme and Engineering Manager and sitting within the Composite Engineering Team, the Production Engineer will assume and discharge the responsibility for determining the methods, machines, tooling and processes required to produce the company's composite products in an expeditious, economical and safe manner.

Working independently or in partnership with our customers the Production Engineer will develop manufacturing methods and Tooling.

Prepare and estimate customers requests for quote (RFQ).

Amending planning sheets for the manufacture of components to meet customer's requirements.

Including the modification of process planning in light of experience, drawing or process changes.

Responsibilities Production Engineer - Aerospace position:

  • Problem solving, liaison with other internal and external stakeholders

  • New product introduction

  • Life cycle management

  • Determining the methods, tooling and processes required for manufacturing the company's composite products

  • Advising on types of equipment required for manufacturing components to meet with customer's requirements

  • Liaising with customers and sub-contractors on technical queries

  • Liaising with Shop Supervisors to resolve technical problems and ensure that new products are correctly planned

  • Appending/amending target working times to operations on process planning sheets as and when required

  • Keeping up to date with new methods, processes, equipment and products

  • Performing other duties as may be deemed necessary to ensure the effective running of the Department and Company

  • Production and maintenance of Local Control Documents (LCD's), Process Control Documents (PCD's) and other documentation required allowing the manufacture of the Company's products.

Qualifications and Experience of the Production Engineer - Aerospace position:

  • The applicant must have suitable ‘hands on' Composite knowledge that can be applied to our manufacturing production line.

  • They will require relevant experience in the composite industry in either Automotive, Aerospace, Marnie or Deference industries.

  • Ability to manage ones own time and prioritise workload in an organised, methodical manner.

  • Proven track record in problem solving and development and implementation of new processes within a production and manufacturing environment

  • Engineering based degree (preferred)

  • Design CAD/CAM (Catia and Alphacam preferred but not essential)

Key knowledge areas of the Production Engineer - Aerospace position:

  • Composite Experience

  • Ideally has a background/knowledge working with the Aerospace/Defence Industry

Salary - £32,000 - £38,000

Location - Bournemouth
