STA Engineer

Job Description


2.                   Dimensions:

1.                   Job Purpose:

Provide support to the Commercial Team and Quality Department in relation to supplier development and supplier quality management.

To ensure all documentation is completed in line with our procedures for supplier development and supplier performance management.

To ensure excellent communication between our suppliers and the voestalpine Rotec team, with the objective of reducing the number of supplier concerns by using robust analysis techniques.





Financial: -   To ensure any supplier quality costs are documented and where possible agreed and charged back to the supplier.


Non-Financial -  Ensuring all supplier concerns are documented, controlled and managed with the supplier in question and communicated internally.                          




Effective closure of supplier concerns within required time frame

Reduction in number of supplier concerns.

Improve delivered supplier quality level

Ensure all documentation is stored and accessible when required.

Liaise with NPI team on raw material supplies ensuring compliance with our requirements

Approve and manage all supplier PPAP submissions                                          




3.                   Principle Accountabilities:

  •  To support health, safety and environmental action plans, agreed by the company to ensure a safe working environment for all employees by conducting, delegating and auditing risk assessments.

    Ensuring the introduction of appropriate measures to address highlighted issues and thus respecting all legal and policy requirements.

  • To reduce the number of supplier concerns

  • To consistently achieve the quality standards as determined by the customer adhering to the company's quality procedures and standards, thereby ensuring continued TS 16949 registration.

  • To ensure departmental & company procedures are aligned with the quality standards as determined by the customer and adhering to the company's quality procedures thereby ensuring continued TS 16949 registration.

  • To develop a cross-functional teamwork approach involving all departmental disciplines.

  • To constantly monitor and analyse Supplier performance and implement continuous improvements with our suppliers and partners.

  • To devise and maintain a continuous training and development plan in order to achieve the business goals and in line with business growth.

  • To constantly improve and develop the Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure an efficient operation with all the necessary documentation so as to achieve full ongoing improvements in supplier performance.

  • To liaise with all suppliers, externally and internally as required.

  • Preparation, monitoring and analysis of agreed KPI's.

  • To ensure that adequate cover is maintained during any holiday periods.

  • To assist, the Commercial Director, in the construction of and achieving of, the operational budgets.

  • To challenge current convention.

  • To carry out any other duties, relevant to the post which may arise.

    As determined by operational detailed planning by the holder.

    4.                   Equipment Used and Technical Expertise Required:

  • Demonstrable experience of implementing Continuous Improvements.

  • An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • TS16949 / ISO 14001 / ISO 18001 procedures

  • Experience of supplier Audits TS16949

  • Understanding of metrology techniques (Both contact and non-contact)

  • Some Metallurgical understanding of steel.

  • Knowledge of automotive industry

  • Manufacturing / production experience (In-depth experience of production planning and lean manufacturing)

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes associated with Tube manufacture and subsequent processes.

  • Supplier liaison experience

  • Excellent analytical & Practical problem solving skills.

  • Financial awareness.

  • Previous experience of developing suppliers.

  • Comprehensive IT skills.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • The ability to demonstrate and challenge convention and lateral thinking in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
