Software Asset Management - London - £42k - £50k

Are you a degree educated Software Asset Management (SAM) professional looking for an exciting new role?

We are looking for an Assistant Manager with 5+ years IT experience to join a global professional services company in central London.

The team is very entrepreneurial, driven and massively ambitious.

Skills and experience

, Solid industry knowledge of software licensing across a number of vendors (VMware, Citrix, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, HP, etc.).

, Working knowledge of ITIL v3 and ISO 19770.

, Experience of working with a SAM function.

Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of managing software licensing risks through SAM.

, SAM process and tool knowledge.

, Experience working with SAM tools and technology.

, Experience working with desktop, Windows and UNIX server software licensing.

- Mainframe licensing experience is a plus.

, IT Software Contract negotiation experience is a plus.

, Security clearance is a plus.

, Strong team work skills.

, Additional language skills a plus.

, Strong academics, including a minimum of 2.1 degree or equivalent.


As an Assistant Manager, you will be working as part of a core team responsible for delivering software asset management projects for a number of major clients.

You will need to be able to grasp and develop a strong understanding of the client's IT infrastructures along with vast software products whilst at the same time managing complex client relationships.

You will be expected to work in a team environment, with focus on both business development as well as the delivery of projects.

You will be expected to develop long term client relationships, with the aim of growing the software asset management practice.

The ability to develop strong working relationships and the character to deal with potentially sensitive issues is critical.

Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

, Leading SAM (Software Asset Management) advisory projects which will be diverse in nature ranging from focussed short term delivery to long term managed services projects.

, Working directly with the Senior IT and Finance Executives to understand client requirements; on-site work may be required.

, Developing and enhancing SAM methodologies, policies and practices for customers in line with SAM best practices and international standards.

, Reviewing of their customer's IT business processes and develop recommendations for improvements to current processes.

, Evaluating, selecting and suggesting SAM tools to customers, ensuring appropriate integration of data from non-SAM-owned sources.

, Identifying potential clients within the industry, and developing proposals and SAM propositions to be pitched to these clients.

, Training and developing junior members within the team.

, Participating in project management activities, including project planning, budget monitoring and performing technical and quality review of team members work, to ensure high quality of deliverables.

, To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture.


This role is offering a starting salary of up to £50k, depending on experience alongside a host of great benefits including access to their gym, company pension scheme, 25 days holiday, as well as a work laptop and phone for you to work from.
