BAE / Other Engineering Assessor

About the role

To assess, monitor and sample learner output in order to prove competency for the L2 & L3 NVQ Engineering Diplomas.

Conduct regular learner reviews checking progression /H&S/ED&I.

Administer documentation and invigilate tests in order for the learner to achieve the full Engineering Qualifications as laid down in the Apprenticeship Framework.

Company/Industry Knowledge:

Has a minimum of three years' experience in an appropriate engineering environment

Good understanding of work based learning programmes

Experience in assessing L2 & L3 NVQ Engineering Diplomas


Hold A1/V1 or equivalent

Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical) at Level 3 or above

Level 2 English and Mathematics qualifications

Adult Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or above (desirable)

Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:

Setting and reviewing progressive training objectives, mentoring, assessment and verification of Functional Skills /vocational programmes with learners as per caseload and contractual requirements.

Monitor learner progress toward achievement and give feedback where appropriate

To undertake the mapping of the Level 2/Level 3 QCF qualifications being assessed where necessary and to ensure currency and validity is satisfied for audit purposes

Conduct /attend sign up presentations, ensure all sign up documentation is immediately passed to appropriate support functions and to carry out post course evaluation sessions

To instruct, monitor, assess/verify and invigilate tests for vocational qualifications in Engineering at Level 2/3 and Functional Skills where necessary

Additional Key Accountabilities:

Ensure all documentation used is accurate, completed on time and fulfils all contractual and statutory obligations and is kept in a safe and secure area and be available for inspection or audit (internal or external).

Create and maintain an efficient work plan, practising effective time management and cost effectiveness.

Present to the learner the principles and any changes to their Apprenticeship programme

Attend standardisation meetings in line with awarding body criteria and standards as directed by the BAE/Other Engineering Team Leader/Programme Manager

To ensure that the internal quality assurance process is managed and qualifications are awarded to the individual in a given timeframe on completion of the award

Security Status:

Requires enhanced DBS through the Disclosure and Barring Service and military security clearance
