Development Engineer

Job Title: Development Engineer

Division / Location: Award Winning PLC House Builder, Manchester Division

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Overall Purpose of Position

The Development Engineer is responsible for the supervision and monitoring of developments within the Division, including the construction of all infrastructure, roads, sewers, foundations, external works and structural elements, whilst providing an important link between the design and construction process.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervision and monitoring of the Company's infrastructure, foundations and external works construction.

2. Ensure compliance with working / approved drawings.

3. Technical support, inclusive of appropriate advice to the site construction team.

4. Utility services applications and co-ordination.

5. Liaison with Statutory Bodies, Authorities and Service Utility providers.

6. Monitoring of demolition / site clearance works.

7. Provide appropriate input to the Company's monthly valuations.

8. Agree all stage 3 surfacing works with the Highway Authority's Representative and the Company's appointed Contractor [Ref.

Section 38 & Section 278].

9. Agree all sewer remedial works with the sewerage Authority and the Company's appointed Contractor [Ref.

Section 104].

10. Ensure the earliest possible adoption / handover of road & sewer infrastructure and P.O.S.

11. Exercise due diligence and ensure the Company's commitment to the highest possible standards of health and safety are maintained at all times.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Undertake all service utility applications.

2. Contribute to the ongoing discussion and evolution of new and innovative forms of construction.

3. Keep adequate records of inspections and meetings.

4. Provide feedback to the design team.

5. Liaison with retained Consulting Engineers.

6. Limited site investigation relative to anticipated infrastructure and foundation construction.

Financial Accountability

1. Must be able to understand commercial aspects of decisions.

People Management and Leadership Skills including Briefing and Communication

1. Must be able to communicate well at all levels internally and externally.
