Location: Afghanistan

Salary: £21,600 + 50% uplift



First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an FLS Supervisor on behalf of our clients.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in airfield winter operations.

This role would suit ex-military personnel however, candidates from all backgrounds will be considered.

The successful candidate will receive the following:


12 / 3 rotation

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Supervise the FLS teams and provide the aircraft dispatch interface between cargo, passenger staff and FLS management team.

·         Liaison with airfield management, Met Office and relevant base operations department.

·         Ensure any special aircraft parking arrangements associated with handling flights with cargo are notified to the airfield operations authority in a timely manner.

·         Coordinate the physical aircraft marshalling, GSE usage, loading/unloading or cargo, baggage, mail and passengers to ensure that flight leaves on time.

·         Ensure that prior planning is instigated to ensure that snow and ice clearance and aircraft de-icing can be completed in a timely manner.

·         Ensure all agencies are aware of required delivery times and ensure any problems which may affect this are highlighted.

·         Ensure that health and safety standards are adhered to at all times.

·         Make sure that shift personnel are qualified.

·         Ensure that daily and weekly checks are undertaken and report defects.

·         Monitor working conditions for all staff.


Skills and Qualifications:

·         Strong background in winter airfield operations, with an emphasis on leading snow and ice clearance operations.

·         Proven ability of managing a Flight Line Support Services section.

·         Experience supervising air transport operations, including terminal operations, cargo management, passenger management and dispatch of aircrafts with the use of specialist aircraft handling equipment.

·         Have knowledge of towing, pushback, follow me services, GSE usage, fleet management and AOS sweeping.

·         Background in civil and/or military aircraft and airfield operations.

·         Previous experience with various types of aircraft and handling equipment.

·         Knowledge of current operating criteria for transport aircrafts.

·         IATA Dangerous Goods qualified (training provided if necessary).

·         Fluent in English.

·         Be familiar with NATO, ICAO and ISO terminology.

·         Experience of working on operations in remote sites or in developing nations.
