Job Title: Direct Buyer

Location: Tewkesbury

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 p/a + excellent benefits package

Hours of Work: Full-time (Monday - Friday)

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to the business globally which will involve occasional international travel and will be supported with relevant qualifications and career progression.


Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer will manage a portfolio of high profile suppliers ensuring Quality, Delivery and Cost are aligned to the business requirements and expectations.

As a leading stakeholder you will have excellent interpersonal skills to manage a complex portfolio of supplier relationships in order to meet delivery targets for the customer.



Key Responsibilities



  • Facilitate the purchasing of material in line with MRP

  • Analyse supplier information to establish on time delivery for the production line and to ensure on time delivery for the relevant portfolio of suppliers

  • Manage exception messages in line with the business needs

  • Supplier Relationship Management through Supplier account reviews.

  • Manage MRP in line with the PO maintenance process and standard work

  • Expedite parts in line with business requirements

  • Ensure all purchasing activities are compliant to ITAR and EAR where appropriate

  • Support the DPPM project to ensure good quality parts are delivered

  • Support Quality in root cause analysis and corrective actions and Returns

  • Support and lead improvement activities through the lean philosophy

  • Report monthly on key objectives



Skills & Experience



  • 5 years of Buying experience ideally in Aerospace

  • Direct Buying essential, ideally low volume, high value.

  • Customer focused with excellent communication skills - ability to communicate at all levels within the business and to build positive relationships both internally and externally

  • Aerospace or high-tech engineering background essential

  • Working knowledge of an MRP system and Microsoft Office applications

  • At ease in fast paced dynamic environment with the sound decision making ability



Qualifications



  • Full Driving License required as occasional travel as part of role

  • CIPs qualified or studying towards

  • Degree in an appropriate discipline highly desirable

  • Lean/continuous improvement certified desirable
