Portfolio Analyst/Servicing Specialist

This position is responsible for the maintenance and effective servicing/review of the assigned commercial loan portfolio.

Maintenance and servicing shall include, but not limited to: renewals, modifications, amendments and annual reviews for members within the assigned portfolio.

The individual shall provide servicing on loans ensuring that members are receiving service consistent with Credit Union policy.

Working in conjunction with others in the Member Business Loan department, the individual will be performing maintenance with regard to the Credit Union's credit policies and procedures in order to attain growth, reduce losses and improve overall member satisfaction.


  • Maintain and manage assigned commercial and SBA loan portfolio with respect to the preparation of loan renewals, modifications, annual reviews and servicing requests from within the portfolio.

  • Accurately maintain tickler system with respect to updated financial information, documentation and loan covenant testing.

  • Prepare annual reviews on the loans in the portfolio by performing detailed financial analysis on business entities and interpret financial information based upon supplied financial statements, tax returns and company prepared documents in order to accurately maintain loan risk ratings for loans within the assigned portfolio in accordance with the Credit Union's policy and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate knowledge of Credit Union MBL credit, practices and regulatory policies to assist in compliance.

  • Maintain and update watch list credits in the portfolio.

  • Prepare monthly department reports as required.

  • Assist Loan Closer with keeping loans on track to close in a timely fashion.

  • Carry out servicing aspects with regard to participated loan portfolio, including payment disbursement.

  • Provide backup for other positions within the MBL department as needed.

  • Plan and schedule own workload to most efficiently meet benchmarks.

  • Provide premier member service to lenders, borrowers, other Credit Union staff and outside vendors.

  • Analyze property financial statements and tenant occupancy reports.

  • Review and assess commercial property inspections conducted by third party vendors and regional offices.

  • Work with members to resolve any outstanding deferred maintenance.

  • Process borrower draw/escrow related requests.

  • Monitor maturing loans.

  • Monitor and update monthly loan reports utilized by management to analyze portfolio risk.

  • Conduct loan surveillance through Borrower/Lender interaction and property analysis.

  • Conduct due diligence of loan documents to ensure proper loan setup and servicing of the loan.

  • Demonstrate continued growth and development.

  • Perform other reasonable tasks/projects as assigned


  • 1-3 years' experience in banking, credit unions, finance or accounting.

  • Commercial lending or servicing experience preferred; familiar with commercial loan terminology.

  • Effective organizational skills, including multi-tasking, with a high degree of computer literacy.

  • Possess strong analytical skills; including the ability to resolve complex problems with minimal guidance.

  • Requires strong written, oral, and reading communication skills.

    Must be multitask oriented, organized, set priorities and meet deadlines and take pride in one's work.

  • Strong member service skills.


  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in the finance, real estate or accounting field.
