Software Developer - C#/.Net / Javascript / SQL - Engineering

Global leader in their field of engineering solutions employing 50,000+ across 60 countries worldwide is looking for a mathematically-minded Software Developer to support their team of specialist engineering experts based in Southampton.


Offering a high functioning collaborative team environment in a relaxed and flexible working culture, the role could suit a mathematical / computing or engineering graduate looking for a career in software but with an interest in engineering.


The successful candidate will have a good understanding of both software development and engineering concepts.

Working closely with a team of engineering experts who are regarded as the global technical authority in their field, you will be developing leading edge software based on detailed specs designed around complex mathematical and engineering driven customer requirements.


Required Skills:



  • Mathematical aptitude and problem solving skills

  • Strong knowledge of C#(.NET), Javascript and web markup languages (html, css, svg)

  • Skills in database design and writing optimised MSSQL queries

  • Ability to work in a small team using common source-control tools

  • Be proficient in signal processing of large datasets, such as FFT's and integration of acceleration time histories.

  • An understanding of business and professionalism

  • An eye for detail and good at optimising software


Tasks include:



  • Prioritising feature requests and implementing code changes

  • Working with the client to gather information and understand their requirements

  • Reviewing and testing software in test environments, before going live

  • Troubleshooting problems in software and fixing bugs

  • Using in-house software with client-supplied data

  • Creating and maintaining technical manuals, help files and training materials


Beneficial skills:



  • Familiarity with simulation software (e.g.

    Ansys) and mathematical protoypting languages (e.g.

    Matlab)

  • Knowledge of software deployment within Microsoft Azure

  • Experience within the oil industry, and ability to understand process flow diagrams and isometric drawings

  • Familiarity with steel behaviour and material fatigue, particularly at welds.
