Senior Economist - Pricing and Economic Regulation

The Pricing and Economic Regulation team is responsible for designing competitive airport charges for the use of the runway, passenger servicing, parking and other key infrastructure in this entity.

This team is also preparing for the next regulatory determination period in which CAR will revisit the appropriate price cap and provide an infrastructural allowance to this entity for necessary expansion over this period.


The role:



  • Support with the implementation of this entity pricing strategy and economic regulation policy with concise information

  • Deliver the business with the relevant information to support the impact of economic regulation on key decisions

  • Deliver operational, financial and commercial analysis that can be used in the development of the company's strategy and the performance of its business functions and brought to bear on the company's interactions with CAR

  • Offer relevant data and reports that maintain strategic stakeholder relationships with CAR, Airport Council International, The Department of Transport, airlines / airport users and business partners are maintained and developed

  • Plan and coordinate evidence-based submissions to the regulator.

    This includes the co-ordination of the five-year price determination process and on-going engagements with the regulator on regulatory reporting, service quality measures and commercial investments as they arise

  • Back to the overall development, execution and success of this entities vision and goals



The person:



  • Previous experience with maintaining and manipulating financial models and using supporting evidence to assist with units across the business to make key decisions

  • A postgraduate qualification in economics or finance with 3-5 years' experience

  • Outstanding report writing skills, with impeccable attention to detail and proven ability to deliver high-quality output to challenging timelines.

    The ability to concisely summarise

  • Ability to interact and maintain key business and stakeholder relationships across diverse internal and external groups

  • In-depth project management experience, including multiple projects with different deadlines in a demanding environment

  • Previous financial modelling, economic regulation and/or pricing experience is a distinct advantage
