Estates Ground person / Gardener

We have an exciting role on offer for an Estate Ground person / Gardener on a full time permanent basis who will be reporting to the Head Grounds person and assisting with day to day gardening tasks, repairs and maintenance work alongside a small team.

In the Estate Ground person / Gardener Job you will be:

  • Providing high standards of maintenance of all outdoor sports playing surfaces, grounds and gardens across the estate
  • Using hand tools, machines and ride-on mowers
  • Maintaining to the highest standard the sports surfaces, using tractor, attachments and machines, including pitch preparation, line-marking, to mark out the sports pitches
  • Maintaining artificial surfaces, to keep them clean and playable
  • Picking up and clearing litter, clearing pathways
  • Gardening duties including edging lawns, de-weeding flower beds, pruning etc
  • General assistance to other gardeners and caretaking as and when required
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment, with particular reference to safety provisions
  • Undertaking any other work as reasonably directed by the Head Grounds person
  • Responsible for ensuring you are aware of all COSHH Regulations relating to any product used and to comply with the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992

To be successful in the Estate Ground person / Gardener Job you will need:

  • Have experience in the use and maintenance of grounds equipment
  • Enjoy working outdoors and have experience of gardening.

    Ideally the post holder will have experience of the maintenance of sports grounds or gardens
  • Be an enthusiastic worker with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks without close supervision
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have the ability to work well in a small team
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A full UK driving licence (essential)

This is a full time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, which will include evenings and weekend working on a rota basis, with an annual salary of up to £16,000 depending on experience.
