Machine Tool Electrician

The position is working with a world-renowned manufacturing and engineering business based in Huddersfield and easily commutable from the M62 and M1 corridor.

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified machine tool electrician to join their maintenance team, to undertake both reactive and proactive maintenance upon machine tools within their manufacturing facility, to also include projects.


There are currently two vacancies available, both working Monday to Friday.

One is covering a double day's shift and the other will be fixed nights, after a training period.


THE ROLE:



  • Diagnosis and repair of electrical and PLC / Servo drive faults on all equipment including complex CNC machinery and complex PLC control systems, as a maintenance electrician

  • Scheduled maintenance and servicing of equipment to OEM machine tool standards.

  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules using their CMMS system

  • Respond rapidly to emergency breakdown situations and create work completion reports

  • Use problem solving tools to reduce downtime and suggest improvements using Root Cause Analysis techniques.

  • Mentor/train apprentices and less experienced members of the department.

  • Attend manufacturing improvement meetings and work cross functionally to resolve issues.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Apprenticeship training.

NVQ - Level 3 or equivalent


Minimum City and Guilds or equivalent level 3 in an electrical\electronic discipline


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • A preferred minimum of 2 - 4 years post apprenticeship as a maintenance electrician / machine tool electrician

  • Previous machine tool maintenance experience, preferably including CNC lathes, CNC machining centres, CNC grinders, gantry loaders/robotics and/or balancing machines

  • A solid understanding of machine tool control systems including servo and PLC control.

  • Equipment installation and commissioning is desirable but not essential
