Salary- £50 - £70 k

The Role

Reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for the review of existing contracts/ drafting of new contracts to ensure the business is suitably protected from a legal standpoint and is able to extract full commercial value from a commercial standpoint.

The role will also be responsible for the tracking of internal projects to highlight any variances and to ensure the required returns are delivered.

The role is a pivotal role in partnering with key stakeholders within the business, the business' wider team of professional advisors and key customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial:



* Own, administer & represent the company on commercial & contractual issues.


* Derive, develop and negotiate contracts with customers, suppliers, partners and employees on ITS' behalf (supported by professional advisors).


* Liaise with the customer, their representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional monies.


* Provide detailed advice on contract conditions, undertake tender scrutiny, identification of issues that require legal advice, and manage the resolution of contractual issues.


* Undertake regular cross-business contractual reviews; Identify and resolve unacceptable wording/terms/concepts in bonds, warranties, contractual commitments, guarantees and other business contractual terms and conditions.

Manage the recording and submission of claims; Formulation of detailed arguments in respect of such issues and make representation to the relevant parties


Project Management / Investment Portfolio:



* Cost and value management for all projects, ensuring implementation of appropriate systems and procedures.

Track and monitor performance, highlight all variances and suggest appropriate courses of action to mitigate.


* Risk and opportunity management for project: management (with operations team) of known and newly identified risks and opportunities for best project return as well as identification and implementation of mitigation measures


* Supervise the preparation of cost plans for complex projects, using a range of cost planning techniques and software, manages the compilation of data to permit various analyses


* Interrogate and manages the suite of project cost reports from raw data and provides analysis that can inform key decisions


* Prepare long term cash forecasts for projects, monitors results and interprets reasons for deviations.

Uses established techniques to minimise outflow of cash and maximise inflow.


* Devise innovative systems to control and monitor direct works cost and financial performance.


* Proposes actions in response to changes in client and stakeholder needs and expectations


* Reports risks associated with design liability and draft step-down clauses into Sub-Contractor/ Designer Agreements


* Adhoc support as required by the CFO


* Adhoc support as required by the Finance team


Experience and skills:



* Strong commercial and contract management experience working in a SME environment.


* Proven experience / ability to construct compelling arguments in pursuance of contracts and related entitlements


* Skilled negotiator; Able to manage and lead a negotiation, and secure acceptable commercial results


* Proven experience / ability to manage a dispute through any form of dispute resolution process with practical knowledge and understanding of all legal techniques attached thereto


* Proven experience / ability to lead, guide, devise and negotiate complex contracts / business evaluations


* Proven experience / ability to devise, manage and monitor complex project cost reporting systems, with associated capacity to interrogate data and identify trends


* Proven experience / ability to facilitate risk management reviews, identify and classify project and business risks, reconcile the interaction of various risks, and propose and implement viable solutions


* Proven experience / ability to produce contractual correspondence and reports quickly, concisely and effectively to requirements.

Is able to supervise the production and presentation of these


* Has detailed knowledge and experience of the project / contract cost management system and can provide detailed guidance to others


Qualifications / Training / Skills:



* Financial Management and Leadership; strong commercial acumen / awareness; Strong contractual knowledge (including bonds / warranties / insurance etc)


* Proven skills in dispute resolution; communication; managing change

Package Overview:



* Base annual salary £50-70k including car allowance


* Annual bonus linked to company performance

Reporting into CFO

No direct reports but the role will be partnering with key stakeholders within the business, the business' wider team of professional advisors and key customers and suppliers.

Business currently has 33 employees but is expanding rapidly so a great time to join.

Need someone who can hit the ground running and be able to get on with minimal training.

Candidates industry background is not important as long as they have the desired skills and experience.

Will initially be working remotely but will be office-based when possible.

Office hours: 37.5 hours/week
