SEMH Teaching Asssitant



We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Teaching Assistant in Stockport.

This position involves assisting with day-to-day activities and providing educational support in all subjects on a full-time basis.

The student is currently receiving education outside of the traditional school setting.


Responsibilities:



  • Individualized Educational Support:

  • Provide tailored educational support to the student based on their individual needs, with a focus on helping them overcome challenges.

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to enhance accessibility and engagement.

  • Subject Support:

  • Assist the student in all subject areas, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

  • Collaborate with the student to reinforce understanding of concepts and facilitate learning.

  • Daily Activities:

  • Support the student in various day-to-day activities, including transitions between activities and maintaining a structured routine.

  • Foster independence while providing the necessary assistance and encouragement.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain open communication with the student, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with other education professionals, parents, and any external support services involved in the student's education.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

  • Assist in assessing the student's progress and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Keep detailed records of the student's achievements and challenges, sharing insights with relevant stakeholders.


Requirements:



  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in supporting students with autism and dyslexia.

  • Understanding of autism and dyslexia and strategies to support students with this learning difference.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting individualized learning needs.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
