SEMH Teaching Assistant



As a SEMH Teaching Assistant at Key Stage 4 in Salford, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs

  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies

  • Supporting students with academic tasks and helping to develop their social and emotional skills

  • Collaborating with teachers to differentiate instruction and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students

  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers

  • Promoting positive behaviour and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment


Requirements:



  • Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs is essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young people

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students
