Attendance Officer

We are seeking a motivated Attendance Officer to join a school in Wigan and make a real difference in the lives of students across Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting regular attendance and punctuality, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.


Key Responsibilities:


Monitor and record attendance and punctuality for students across Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.



  • Identify patterns of absence and work closely with parents, guardians, and external agencies to address any underlying issues.

  • Implement strategies to improve attendance, including rewards and incentives for punctuality.

  • Provide support and guidance to students and families experiencing difficulties with attendance.

  • Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to coordinate interventions and support plans for students with attendance concerns.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and produce reports as required by senior leadership.


Qualifications and Skills:



  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
