SEMH Learning Mentor

Job Description:


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Mentor to join our team.

The successful candidate will work closely with students who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs, ensuring they have the tools and resources to thrive in the educational setting.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide one-on-one and group support sessions to students experiencing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for students, in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external professionals.

  • Assist students in developing coping strategies, resilience skills, and emotional regulation techniques.

  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to coordinate additional support services for students as needed.

  • Support teachers and staff in understanding and addressing the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students within the classroom.

  • Monitor and track the progress of students receiving support, and adjust interventions accordingly.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives to promote positive mental health and well-being.


Qualifications and Skills:



  • Previous experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, preferably within an educational setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with students facing complex challenges.

  • Knowledge of relevant policies and legislation related to safeguarding and child protection.

  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
