We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Conference and Events Manager to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and management of our high-profile events and conferences.

You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure each event meets our high standards of excellence and delivers exceptional value to our members and participants.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead the events management for the Make UK flagship annual conference, Make UK awards presentation events (x6), and other operations directorate events

  • Manage the delivery of events in person and remote where applicable

  • Work collaboratively across the business unit to develop and execute the conference and events on time and on target

  • Work across business units to support promotions and delegates

  • Manage external suppliers for conference and events e.g.

    registration system, badge supplier, onsite collateral, venues, catering and AV

  • Support conference and event exhibitions, including sales and income

  • Responsibility for cost controls and managing budgets

  • Responsibility for all reporting functions, including the pre and post event reporting

  • Manage the online / digital presence of the conference and events, including the booking system(s) and database(s)

  • Manage the internal and external communications associated with events

  • Assess current and identify potential systems that can more efficiently deliver the conference and event functions, both online/virtually and in person (e.g.

    webinar / online event delivery, registration processes, web and marketing services, speaker management, delegate communications)



Person Specification:



  • Educated to degree level or demonstrable experience in events/conference planning and management

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills

  • Proactive negotiation skills, particularly with venues and contractors

  • Ability to manage a budget and provide clear financial updates as necessary

  • Events marketing and promotions experience desired

  • A high degree of attention to detail, and accountability for delivering to high standard

  • Be proactive and self-motivated to offer creative, problem-solving solutions

  • Drivers licence and willingness to travel around the UK (preferred)
