Our partner participates in a variety of projects ranging from designing and building spacecraft to managing launches and controlling satellites in orbit.

Our partner is seeking a skilled and dynamic Software Developer to join their team and play a key role in developing advanced space systems.

This diverse and critical role supports their extensive work across UK and European missions, including civil and defence projects.

Key Responsibilities for the Software Developer:

- Design and develop innovative software solutions for ground applications in the space domain, which may include:
- Web applications for data visualisation and exploitation
- Monitoring and Control Segment Systems
- Mission Systems
- User Segment Systems
- Earth Observation Data Management Systems
- Plan and execute integration and test campaigns.
- Produce technical documents and development plans.
- Prepare for and participate in technical reviews.

Key Skills and Experience Required by the Software Developer:
Essential -

- University bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related discipline with relevant software modules.
- 3-10 years of commercial software development experience, ideally within the space industry (but not essential).
- Requirements analysis and software system development using modern architectures.
- Proficiency in configuration management (e.g., Git) and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows development, RESTful architecture, and CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins, Buildkite).
- Knowledge of virtualisation, cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure), and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong DevOps practices.

Desirable -

- Understanding of Ground Segment Systems, machine learning, and AI.
- Familiarity with OGC Standards (e.g., WPS, WMS) and Linked Data technologies (e.g., RDF, SPARQL).
- Experience with Big Data Processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop)
- Experience with Big Data Databases (e.g.

HDFS, other non-SQLand non-SQL databases.
- Scripting abilities (e.g., shell, Perl, Python).
