MediTalent is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner / ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) to join our client in their State-of-the-Art private hospital based in Nottingham.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Scrub Nursing/Practitioner Focus: The primary role will involve scrub duties in the theatre, with expectations of having multidisciplinary skills.

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Act as the team lead for the Scrub team, offering guidance and mentorship to fellow staff members.

  • Role Model for Patient Care: Be a role model in providing high standards of care, ensuring optimum patient safety and comfort during procedures.

  • Supporting Colleagues: Offer support and supervision to less experienced staff or those in need of guidance.


Ideal Candidate Profile:



  • Experience in Theatre Skills: Previous experience in a range of theatre practices, particularly in scrub roles.

  • Multidisciplinary Skills: ODP qualifications and experience in different areas of theatre care.

  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor within a team setting, ensuring high standards of care and practice.


Skills Required:


Valid NMC/HCPC Pin Required:


Ensure your Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration is current and valid.

Regularly check for any updates or required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours to maintain your registration.


ILS (Immediate Life Support):


You will be required to have an up-to-date ILS certification.

This is crucial for handling emergency situations in the theatre environment.

Consider renewing your ILS training regularly and keeping documentation accessible.


Mentorship Qualification:



  • This qualification indicates your ability to guide and support junior staff.

    If you haven't completed this, look for accredited mentorship courses.

    If you have this qualification, be prepared to demonstrate how you've applied it in practice.


Minimum of 2 Years Scrub Experience Essential:



  • Ensure that you have at least two years of experience in a scrub role, ideally in various surgical specialties.

    Be prepared to discuss your specific experiences and the skills you've gained during this time.


Evidence of Relevant Professional Development:



  • Gather evidence of any professional development activities you've engaged in, such as workshops, additional certifications, or training sessions related to scrub nursing or theatre management.

    Having a portfolio ready that outlines your continuous learning will be beneficial.
