Band 7 Diabetes Nurse Specialist
Applications are invited from commited and experienced Diabetes Nurse Specialists to join the Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
This is a newly-created post to compliment the existing three current Band 7 CNS posts
The Diabetes Service provides care to adults including a transitional period for 16 year olds upwards.
The MDT comprises; a Diabetologists, 3 x specialist nurses and a full-time dietician and a newly created Band 4 Diabetes Technologist role.
The Service provides a specialist service across the acute hospital from the specialist 'Diabetes Hub' at the hospital, and community but there is an opportunity to either rotate or work predominantly within your preferred area.
Reporting to the Lead Diabetes CNS you will:
- work collaboratively with multi-professional teams in Primary Care, Secondary Care, in the community and in all care settings (including domiciliary visits) and applies research-based practice to achieve the optimum ‘best clinical practice’ in diabetes care.
- act as a clinical leader for diabetes for health care workers, patients and their carers in all clinical settings.
- the role also provides clinical leadership in diabetes care by using strategies such as teaching and auditing services.
Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale, as above.
The current Band 7 salary range is £55,578 to £73,085 plus an annual bonus of £1,605
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS or UK Local Authority service for annual leave and sick leave.
The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000.

Providing an excellent Diabetes Service, supported by modern equipment and reliant on Healthcare professionals recruited to a high standard.
Person requirements:
NMC-Registered Nurse
At least one year current experience in a Diabetes role at Band 6 level
A PGD Diabetes qualification or a willingness to work towards the MSc in Diabetes for which you would be supported to complete.
To hold or be willing to work toward NMP V300 qualification
