Mental Health Nurse - Older Adult Assessment Ward

Applications are invited from Registered Mental Health Nurses with specific experience in Older Adult Mental Health to join the comprehensive Inpatient Older Adult Mental Health service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
This is an 8-bedded unit providing specialist short-term assessment, care, and treatment for adults over 65 presenting with organic conditions like dementia or functional mental health conditions such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.
Patients may be admitted informally or formally under the Guernsey Mental Health Law (2010)
The unit has single rooms with wet rooms, two lounges, a communal dining area, an activity room, and an internal kitchen. 

Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale.


The current Band 5 salary range is £40,173 to £51,819 plus an annual bonus of £1,747 plus an additional £3,000 at completion of 2 & 4 years. 
Higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH. 
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

The Older Adult Mental Health Service has a four in-patient centres; including this assessment ward through to the later stages of an individual’s experience of dementia, as well as Community Day Services.


They have recently launched their Island-wide Dementia Framework; striving to make the island Dementia Friendly so that their older population feel valued and are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve.
All of this is reliant on the excellent calibre of Mental Health Nurses recruited to a very high standard.

Person requirements:
Registered Nurse with valid (Mental Health) NMC Registration.
At least one year recent post-registration UK experience, specifically in an Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient setting.

Passionate about working with older people.
The desire to work in a team and organisation committed to person-centred care and giving you time to care.
