The Role
You’ll be taking ownership of a portfolio of bookkeeping clients, keeping monthly and quarterly records in order, preparing VAT returns, and ensuring clients’ financial records are accurate and up to date.
You’ll work closely with the wider team, attending regular one-to-ones and team meetings, and following our well-established practice procedures.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Monthly and quarterly bookkeeping for a varied client portfolio
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Journals and bookkeeping adjustments as required
- Communicating directly with clients in a professional and helpful manner
- Working within our practice management systems and document capture software

- Minimum ICB Level 2 or AAT Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
- At least 6 months’ experience working within the bookkeeping or accounting industry
- Competent and confident with Xero - our primary software
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with QuickBooks would make you a strong candidate
The Kind of Person You Are
We care as much about who you are as what you know.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has exceptional attention to detail and takes real pride in accuracy
- Brings honesty, integrity, and transparency to everything they do
- Loves learning and stays curious about changes in legislation and software
- Has a great attitude towards client service and enjoys building relationships

- Full-time contract with core hours agreed to fall within the working week
- Predominantly home-based with flexibility to suit your life
- During the initial phase (up to 6 months), you will be expected to work from our office 2-3 times per week while you become familiar with our clients, systems, and the way we work - we find in-person onboarding makes a real difference
- Must be able to drive and be based within Buckinghamshire or Berkshire.
Salary & Benefits
- £26,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Flexible working hours
- Predominantly home-based role - a real advantage over many comparable positions
