Marine Service Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Support Engineer to join our Global Support Team.
This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining marine sensors while also playing a crucial part in developing new markets and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose, repair, and upgrade marine position reference products from both hardware and software perspectives.
Work will take place in our Leicester-based workshop and at customer sites, including offshore vessels.
Technical Assistance: Provide remote technical support to offshore vessels as part of our Global Support Team.
New Product Support: Assist Business Development and Engineering teams in bringing new products to market.
This includes installation and conducting offshore trials.
Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document repair activities, create evaluation reports, and provide repair quotations.
Maintain the repairs database and ensure timely reporting to facilitate an efficient repair service.
Process Development: Develop and maintain repair methods and work instructions for products, ensuring they are clearly defined based on product age and condition.
General Section Management: Oversee general section management, ensuring adherence to safety and quality policies, managing materials, and ensuring team workload is effectively organised.

Technical Expertise: Experience in the assembly, testing, and fault-finding of mechanical and electronic equipment.
Familiarity with electronics programming, board-level assembly, and data analysis.

This includes managing budget, timeline, and deliverables to ensure projects meet established success criteria. Design - Recommend, and implement manufacturing systems that are designed for machine, human interaction, method/process, raw material & environmental variability.
Design to incorporate Lean principles to improve reliability, ease of use & maintenance, minimize changeover times, and to minimize production losses. Construction Management - Manage contractors, technicians, skilled trades, and internal resources to safely install and startup manufacturing systems.
This includes working with the plant operational teams on training, standard operating procedures, and identification of spare parts. Apply the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations, building code, and NFPA fire code to capital projects and design specifications Manage external Engineering Firm resources on large capital projects Frequent interface with corporate staff, plant staff, operators, and maintenance personnel across a 3-shift operation
Education/Experience Requirements:
BS in Chemical Engineering preferred.
Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Packaging, and Electrical Engineers with hands-on related experience will also be considered. 5 years Minimum in plant engineering support role with hands-on experience in engineering, process design, continuous improvement, troubleshooting equipment, project management and project start-up verification Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical communication skills, with the ability to lead and thrive in fast-paced, multitasking environments Commitment to safety, ethical behavior, and respect for people, ensuring adherence to industry standards, governmental regulations and company values Willingness to travel frequently to support capital project assignments.

Advanced mathematical experience. Valid driver's license required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of electrical components, sensors, motors, switches, and controls. Knowledge of PCB design best practices Knowledge of solid modeling Computer Aided Design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks. Ability to work as a team member and/or individually towards overall company objectives. Ability to program firmware for system controls, User Interface, and wireless communication. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Experience with product safety listing standards from various listing agencies UL, ETL, CSA, IEC.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of engineering Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software preferred. Design of Experiments knowledge and experience preferred. Understanding of electronic manufacturing processes preferred. Responsibilities
Create control panel designs from clients requirements.
Prepare detailed electrical design and general arrangement drawings for the manufacture of motor control and power distribution panels.
Participate in design and process reviews for products as required
Skills
