Join the dynamic Fugro Marine Environmental team, where your expertise as a Marine Environmental Scientist will play a crucial role in shaping the future of coastal and marine site characterization.
Based in either our Portchester office or at Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University campus, you will be at the forefront of environmental monitoring, guiding a talented team of Environmental Scientists as they analyse diverse datasets—from stunning photographic evidence to intricate macrofauna and physico-chemical data.

Who we're looking for
BSc or MSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent.
It is essential you have experience of writing and quality control of interpretive reports.
Experience of intertidal/nearshore/offshore environmental survey techniques.
Experience of marine macrofauna identification and/or physical and chemical analysis.
Experience of statistical analysis.
Good Microsoft Office and GIS capabilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to work to deadlines.

The role
The Fugro Marine Environmental team within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is looking for an experienced and driven Senior Marine Environmental Scientist with a focus on benthic habitats, to join the reporting team based in either our Portchester office or Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University campus on a fixed term contract.
The Marine Environmental team specialises in worldwide environmental site characterisation and environmental monitoring.
The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
This is a pivotal role which will include training and mentoring a team of Environmental Scientists, analysing seafloor photographic data collected using AUVs, ROVs and drop-down video, quality control of seafloor photographic data analysis, providing technical input into innovation projects, analysing multi parameters datasets including photographic data, macrofauna data and physico chemical data, producing and quality control of high quality technical reports.
Your key responsibilities will include ensuring work is of the highest standard and quality, training and appraisals, preparation of environmental technical reports utilising mapping software, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
You will ensure all activities are carried out to company specific standards and are in line with our QHSSE policies.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Color Scientist V serves as the organization's subject matter expert in color science, playing a key role in shaping the company's color strategy.
They leverage their deep knowledge of color theory to develop and oversee color line portfolios across multiple chemistries.
This role works cross-functionally and across business units to ensure precise color matching, consistency, and adherence to color standards for all products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, manage, and ideate color development projects across multiple chemistries in support of business initiatives. Present project updates to R&D and corporate leadership, guiding and influencing strategic discussions. Oversee the creation of pigments and color formulations, ensuring alignment with market trends and technological advancements. Ensure pigment production meets quality standards and industry regulations. Conduct analyses of pigments for color strength, stability, and safety. Improve company-wide manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in lab and production settings. Provide expert advice on pigment dispersion applications and performance to customers. Manage raw material sourcing, inventory, and logistics for pigment production. Ensure proper documentation of technical and experimental activities. Create project plans, manage tasks, and lead project teams to achieve milestones. Collaborate with stakeholders to guide development and address challenges. Support departmental initiatives to improve safety, procedures, and knowledge retention. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Color Science
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: 7+ years of experience with creating colored paint, coating, and sealant formulations.
Experience muyst include color matching and color theory.
In depth experience of color matching in many systems including but not limited to: Water based products PUMA Urethanes Epoxy
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to run spectrophotometer
