JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary result expected from the Buyer will be to Oversee the procurement cycle, from selecting and setting up supplier accounts to ensuring timely delivery of materials and supplies.
It entails managing purchase orders, reconciling transactions and maintaining accurate inventory and vendor information to support the company's operational needs.
Typical tasks for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:
Oversees the procurement process for all production-related materials and supplies. Conducts research to identify new suppliers and outsourcing opportunities to meet facility requirements. Qualifies potential suppliers and sets up vendor accounts, ensuring a robust supply chain. Negotiate prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise. Examine, select, order, and purchase at the most favorable price merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other factors. Generates purchase orders utilizing existing procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Reconciles delivery documentation with received goods, maintaining stringent record-keeping.
Rectifies any issues related to shipments or billing with suppliers, maintaining positive relationships. Conducts administrative tasks, including drafting correspondence and compiling reports. Keeps the Supply Chain Manager and Plant Director informed of market trends affecting process, consumption, and other related purchasing factors. Validates receipt of proper credit for all vendor material returns and addresses discrepancies. Monitors ongoing orders and takes action to expedite as needed to guarantee on-time delivery.
Keeps up-to date and detailed vendor information, including contracts, contacts, and pricing.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline preferred 5-10 years' experience in the procurement of Chemicals required - preferably Pigments, Resins and Solvents SAP & Microsoft (specifically Excel) knowledge preferred. This position is a support role intended to aid the purchasing agents as they go about interacting with suppliers, supporting plant buyers, forecasting raw materials, resolving invoice issues, sourcing new products and a host of other functions that improve overall operational performance.
This position will also support the Corporate Purchasing Team in Data Collection and Report generation.
Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a Business-related bachelor's program with at least three completed semesters.
Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
This position requires minimal physical activity but does require computer usage for an extended period of time - up to 8 hours in a day.
NO unusual environmental, lifting or exertion requirements are associated with this position.

Gain skills and knowledge of paint and coatings industry. Effectuate data updates Communicate with suppliers for crucial information related to business processes Be able to read, interpret and problem solve invoice discrepancies, inventory analysis worksheets, and other operational/financial issues as they arise. Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to develop purchasing forecasts. Support and assist purchasing agents sourcing functions to drive savings. Support active development projects. Responsible for assisting in tasks and duties assigned by Purchasing Manager. Committed to the Company's safety and quality programs. Adhere to laboratory safety practices and participate in all safety and housekeeping initiatives.

Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field with 5 years' experience of relevant experience A passion for chemistry, science, problem solving, and creativity. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills. A breadth of technical knowledge and a keen interest in learning from others. Possess innovation skills evident as risk taking, result seeking, and idea integration.
Hands-on bench experience with various chemistries (latex, moisture curing, reactive, etc.) in sealants, adhesives, coatings, repair or related field. Bench chemistry experience and familiarity with various analytical techniques: wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, tensile testing, etc. Experience operating lab scale mixing equipment as well as lab scale analytical and testing apparatus.
