Leverage new research and existing knowledge base into design of new products Responsible for designing diverse systems, including custom refrigeration, air quality and structural designs. Proficient use of SolidWorks to perform design and drafting tasks Work in step with internal and external groups to ensure projects are completed on time. Perform FEA simulations both in Solidworks and Moldex 3D, analyze and interpret information, and disseminate to internal parties. Formulate and execute testing to validate output meets design requirements. Liaise with manufacturing and production team on manufacturability of new products.
Design and lead process improvement initiatives within engineering office. Responsible for continuous improvement and software upgrades.
Lead effort to document engineering techniques, modify and maintain knowledge base.
Foster a respectful environment and culture with colleagues and peers.
Train and mentor new engineers. Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Demonstrate ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of related experience OR Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of related experience required. The Role: Trainee Test Engineer
- To carry out Structural Testing and Analysis of Lighting Columns throughout the UK.
- This work is carried out for local councils, highways and the rail network.
- Undertaking the testing of lampposts using machinery and test equipment (training will be provided)
- Expensed overnight stays (Monday to Thursday) with an early return Friday on a weekly basis.
- Working in small teams (typically 2)
- Cleaning, checking and loading test equipment and vehicles

- Basic hands-on experience of mechanical repairs such as vehicle mechanics or machine maintenance would be a benefit

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Fitter will include:
Leading, motivating and mentoring a mechanical fitting and testing department, consisting of 6 skilled Mechanical Engineers
Effectively managing and routing the workload, ensuring maximum efficiency is applied across all processes
Remaining “hands on” and assisting colleagues with the mechanical build of bespoke flow control products, designed for customers operating in quality critical industries & environments
Actively participating in various internal meetings around progress, challenges, continuous improvement, company strategy etc.
