Experienced Finance Manager / Accountant with knowledge of German accounting systems and German tax law required for leading Germany based retail / wholesale business.
Remote based with travel to London and Germany.
The Role
The Finance Manager / Accountant will be handling the finance function of the business working a very comprehensive role and will manage two members of staff.
The Finance Manager will be in a hands-on role and responsibilities will include:
VAT returns for monthly filing
Preparation of data for the annual financial statements and cooperation with the tax agent
Processing and control of financial figures
Accounting support
Budget and cash-flow preparation and control
Balance sheet reconciliation
Bank, customer and suppliers' account reconciliation
Credit control management
Management accounts preparation

Our client is a wholesaler and retailer of footwear and bags, selling high quality products both direct to consumer and to a diverse account base of retailers across Germany and Austria.
They have a strong sales base across fashion, agriculture and workwear, and are headquartered outside of Bonn.
The company operates as a subsidiary of their UK based business, which covers the same work in the UK with an office in West Kensington.
The Person
You will be fully qualified or part qualified with experience of working in a similar role with strong knowledge of German accounting systems.
Fluent in German and English with strong verbal & written communication skills and good IT skills you will also need:
Advanced Excel skills
Experience / knowledge of SAP B1 software
Analytical approach
Excellent attention to detail

To be studying towards AAT, ACA, ACCA

Production of monthly reports inc profit and loss, cashflow, balance sheet and debtor list.
Work with sales team to manage customer credit limits and payments and purchasing team to manage supplier terms and expectations.
Monitor overheads, working with general manager, and other departments as necessary e.g. carriage costs with sales and dispatch teams.
Manage card, website and other income streams, working with sales team to record and advising when received etc.
Run month end and process prepayments and accruals.
Produce VAT returns, and ensure PAYE, VAT and other tax payments are set up and accounted for.
Prepare all journals and records for accountant at year end.
Work closely with the directors to forecast the business needs and plans
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Supervisor or Accounts Payable role
A relevant accounting technician qualification (e.g.
AAT) or qualified by experience in a similar role.
The drive to take on a growing role offering wonderful career progression.
Comprehensive MS Office and Accountancy software experience (e.g.
