The Candidate
Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics and or an equivalent degree recognised by the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland (SCSI) and/or by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the various forms of contract used in the construction industry (RIAI, PWC, JCT etc.)
Ability to critically evaluate and identify gaps in documentation and commercial opportunity (contracts, drawings, specs, CVR's)
In-depth knowledge and understanding of construction processes, techniques and systems
Demonstrates commercial awareness - market, competition, value for money

They have a strong public sector client base and a thriving and large commercial client base, including a significant number of household names.
The Team advises public, private and third sector employers on human resource issues from daily personnel matters, including disciplinary and grievance issues, to strategic management issues such as collective redundancy programmes, industrial action, and transfers of employees both within and outside the UK.
The Team handles approximately 2,000 Employment Tribunal claims per annum and are one of the largest users of the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

The role will require the Employment Solicitor to undertake a varied workload of employment matters advising employers in a variety of sectors, including health and social care, central government, telecommunications, retail, and insurance work.
You will progress and manage a wide variety of client matters both contentious and non-contentious, and of varying complexity and scale.
Able to manage own matters, time and relationships with appropriate supervision.
Maintain an awareness of the appropriate limits of own competence/authority.
Actively identify and exploit business development opportunities and marketing activity for team clients and own contacts.
Participate in and initiate marketing / network activities in order to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients.
This includes presenting and assisting in client and other external seminars, taking part in pitches and contributing positively to business development.
Maintain and develop technical knowledge through leading and attending training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements.
Continually monitoring and taking responsibility for own financial performance and demonstrating proactive financial management; attention to billing regimes, credit control, debt collection, accounting procedures and client service level agreements.
Handle confidential data in line with the firm's data security protocols.
Ideally, you will come with a demonstrable interest or previous experience, and real zeal to practice in this area.
Solid track record in terms of academics.
Advocacy experience is an advantage (but not essential as training can be provided in this area).
Excellent relationship and client handling skills.
Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues.
An ability to adopt a client focused and commercial perspective rather than an academic approach to legal issues, coupled with a keen grasp of legal issues, as these arise (demonstrating a clear ability to learn quickly ‘on the job').

You will be responsible for a high-volume caseload of Fast Track Personal Injury RTA claims, making use of the firms Case Management Systems and using the agreed internal procedures and practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To progress your caseload in a manner to ensure that clients receive appropriate, professional, timely and pertinent legal advice, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations
To be able to assess quantum to include reviewing medical reports, researching, and obtaining relevant case law, drafting schedules of special damages, and assessing suitable awards for compensation
Take a practical but commercial approach to settlements and advising clients as to litigation/cost risks
To achieve and exceed various targets set in relation to, for example, profit costs and issuing, without compromising the firms integrity
To liaise appropriately and timely with sources, medical agencies, experts, third party insurers and other relevant parties to ensure that cases are pro-actively progressed
To attend, where appropriate, court hearings to make representations in respect of the claim before the judiciary.
Where necessary, and in accordance with the firms internal policies and procedures, to instruct.
Barristers to represent clients at hearings and obtain formal Advice over issues of quantum.
Perform to a high level in a target orientated environment
To provide supervisory support and guidance on technical issues involving quantum and litigation to other team members
To support the Team Manger in effective people management and to drive the right behaviours
To ensure that the team are achieving the right outcome for clients and optimising each clients claim
Monitor workloads and allocate work as necessary
Experience & Knowledge
Significant previous experience of managing your own caseload of Fast Track RTA litigated claims
A solid working knowledge of the CPR, legislation, and relevant case law
Excellent litigator with strong drafting skills and the ability to negotiate appropriate settlements at the optimum time
Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office
Ability to provide clear direction and take accountability for the teams performance.
