The Kettle Operator is responsible for processing Tremco Sealants and/or Roofing products by carefully reading and following the process order card.
The operator is responsible for area readiness to produce which includes safety and collection and preparation of materials like pails, drums, and other chemical raw materials.
One batch is complete the operator will test for quality, adjust as needed to assure specification is met by following written standard operating procedures, and then fill product into specified packaging and palletize pails or drums.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using control boards, Human Machine Interface (HMI computer touch screen) or semi-automatic equipment.
Draw samples of products, and conduct quality control tests to monitor processing and ensure that standards are met.
Use appropriate scales or measurement devices to add materials to the kettle as specified by batch process orders.
Must be able to read and understand recording instruments, pressure gauges, scales, flow meters, panel lights, and other indicators to verify the conformity of process conditions.
Monitor control settings and make necessary adjustments on equipment.
Accurately record production and downtime via written documentation.
EXPERIENCE: No prior experience is required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic Computer Skills required (Windows Familiarity).
Lean and VFM (Visual Factory Management) skills and/or willingness to train.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Minimum 2 years maintenance experience. Industrial maintenance is preferred. Experience in 480-volt 3 phase, and high voltage DC electricity preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to troubleshoot electric, air systems, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of lockout/tagout, arc flash requirements, and hot work permit. Ability to work overtime as needed; ability to meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond urgently to down equipment. Effective team player, self-motivated, and a quick learner. Good communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English and effectively. Knowledge of rubber extruders/molding presses is a plus, but not required.

Work in the Research & Development Laboratory Fire Resistance Testing Group, testing and evaluating fireproofing product applied to test articles.
Reports directly to the Lab Manager.
Essential Functions:
Handle and prepare all test samples for product application (welding, capping, thermocouple installation, etc.). Able to properly handle large scale test samples (W-flange beams and columns, hollow steel sections, angles, channels, corrugated steel decking, etc.). Able to learn rigging techniques of steel samples for proper storage and handling.
Install test samples into large scale furnace following proper safety and laboratory procedures. Perform testing of samples per nationally and internationally recognized test standards. Evaluate results and report them accordingly to Lab Manager or more senior personnel. Remove all test articles from furnace after testing. Keep area clean and organized at all times. Perform additional duties as assigned Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, 1-year college, or minimum 2 years fabrication/welding shop experience. Welding/Fabricating Skills: Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Knowledge of steel fabrication techniques, including but not limited to, cutting and brazing using Oxy-Acetylene torch and plasma cutter.
Desired Qualification:
Knowledge of welding techniques, including but not limited to, gas metal arc welding (MIG) and shield metal arc welding (Stick).
Tungsten inert gas (TIG) not required; however, a plus. Certified Welder certificate not required; however, a plus Proof of welding skills will be required as a pre-requisite for position consideration.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting up to 100 pounds; exposure to chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, Silicates, and certain inorganic compounds.
Personal protective equipment will be utilized as required by internal lab procedures.
Must pass annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test as required by OSHA. Must be able to work in confined spaces using proper PPE. Wear proper PPE at all times.
This includes, but is not limited to, safety glasses, hard hat, working gloves, steel toe shoes, ear protection, and welding PPE. Able to work in a warehouse environment, operating forklifts, bridge crane, walking up and down stairwells.
