Quality Engineer
AQUMEN Recruitment is working with a prestigious manufacturing business based in Scunthorpe to secure the services of an experienced Quality Engineer on a Fixed Term Contract to the end of December 2022.
This is a Fixed Term Contract position where you will be responsible for all customer quality and engineering issues (in relation to the specific customer and platform), providing pro-active support and response
As Quality Engineer your responsibilities will include (not an exhaustive list):
- Communication
- Understand customer requirements and expectations in detail and then communicate with the internal team in order that it is fully understood
- Customer Service
- To be the main focal point to the customer, internal teams and the supplier for all quality and engineering issues during the program launch and introduction.
- Take responsibility for recording, progressing, responding and close-out of customer concerns, utilising the 8D (or other problem solving techniques) as required
- Conduct internal and external Audits
- Technical
- Project manage product quality and engineering requirements in support of APQP & PPAP activities
- Define and optimise the measurement techniques to deliver a stable and capable production process utilising core tools.
- Ensure customer requirements are captured, understood and communicated to the business with robust process controls in place.
- Support design reviews and prototype builds
- Prepare and submit all Quality documentation for customer approval utilising customer specific requirements (e.g PPAP).
- Development
- Support Production Team training in relation to the customer expectations and quality requirements
- KPI’s
- Achieve on time launch to customer with all product approved to customer requirements.
- Responsible for management and reporting of customer specific KPI’s related to reject PPM and CAR performance
Measures:
- All new products successfully launched and approved by the customer on time and in full.
- All new products successfully launched with zero internal disruption.
- 8D’s completed within the required timeframe and reported back to key stakeholders
- All Quality issues to be investigated and escalated to the relevant parties
Candidate Experience
- Previous experience of working within a Quality Engineering role preferably in the Automotive industry
- Previous experience of plastic components or other related / similar consumables manufacturer
- Experience of customer and automotive industry systems and procedures including IATF16949, APQP, PPAP, Core Tools etc.
- Strong customer focus
- Analytical with excellent problem solving skills
- Comfortable influencing and negotiating
- Flexible and adaptable
