Job Description:

Our client, a global financial services business based in Edinburgh, is recruiting for an Accountant to join the business on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract as they look to develop new key financial controls.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with knowledge of finance operational and reporting processes

  • Stakeholder management, including influencing senior business leaders

  • Drive relationships and must have strong experience of influencing and negotiating with other

  • Strong facilitation skills

  • Strong analytical skills

Core Responsibilities:

  • Complete a range of standard Accountancy and / or analytical functions (including producing financial reports - performance, TBs, controls and OSP oversight, providing analysis of data, statutory reporting, etc) as required by the specific department to meet business and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of multiple business processes and different financial reporting bases (as required for role) in order to ensure a comprehensive consultancy service provided to business decision makers.

  • Apply appropriate quality assurance controls to all work produced in the team to ensure the accuracy and validity of the Company's financial information.

  • Undertake analysis of a range of business data and reports to provide recommendations on commercial viability and tax efficiency of proposed business strategies.

  • Provide accountancy input into the development of new accounting business processes to ensure processes incorporate current legislation and reflect developments in industry standards where relevant.

  • As required, lead, develop, coach and mentor others to maximise their contribution and ensure they are fairly rewarded.

  • To support the successful delivery of designated finance activity throughout the project change cycle.

    Deliveries include accounting requirements captured, reviewed, appropriate scope, validated against IT designs and implemented into BAU efficiently and effectively.

  • Drive the on-going delivery of robust, effective and efficient operational finance processes and controls and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure all data is prepared and reported in accordance with relevant reporting standards and business reporting requirements.

  • Maintaining up to date professional knowledge in an environment of fast moving regulatory change.

  • Communicating complex accounting/finance procedures and principles with multiple stakeholders across the business both in the UK and potentially globally.
