Transport Planner

Transport Planner
6am – 3pm / Mon-Fri (Weekends / Bank Holidays may be required)
Up to £35,000 (DOE)


An experienced and skilled Road Freight Transport Planner will plan all domestic and international movements and will arrange all import and export, full and part loads with hauliers and partners.  The transport planner will ensure compliance and timely collections and deliveries, to ensure customer service levels and organisation standards are met.



The Candidate

  • Road Freight and Freight Forwarding knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge and prior use of Transport Management Systems
  • Proven knowledge of transport and planning
  • Knowledge of Customs requirements
  • Experience in administration and computer systems
  • Customer communication and supplier management
  • Organisational skills
  • Dealing with customers and resolving issues
  • Working under pressure
  • Teamwork & delegation
  • Must have a flexible working approach to hours and days of working to support the business


    The Role

  • Plan and utilise domestic vehicles for Transport, Road Freight & Logistics
  • Planning UK pallet network collections and deliveries
  • Liaise with drivers
  • Manage transport office communication to warehouse operations
  • Manage daily office interaction with various internal departments and pallet depots
  • Manage transport administration and update collection/delivery statuses
  • Monitor and deal with transport queries by liaising with other depots and departments
  • Act as telephone/e-mail contact point to co-ordinate all domestic transport requirements
  • Liaise with transport provider to monitor progress and performance of daily transport requirements
  • Provide quotations for special collections/deliveries as required
  • Manage all subcontractor pricing (accruals) on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for local transport P&L – profitability, utilisation of vehicles etc
  • Take responsibility and manage the delivery of all KPI’s related to Transport and Pallet Network
