HR Support Officer

General description of role

The Human Resources (HR) Support Officer is responsible for delivering the operational/day-to-day HR functions within the Council.

As part of a team of three, the HR Support Officers are the first point of contact for our day-to-day queries and vital in underpinning the services of the whole HR team.

Top duties / responsibilities of role

  • Support the recruitment process from contract stage through to appointment – using iTrent (HRIS system) Web Recruitment
  • Manage new starter processes generating terms and conditions and starter information from HRIS
  • Administer HR related documentation, including contracts of employment, amendments to contracts, sickness letters, Maternity/Paternity letters, Absence letters and other staff correspondence
  • Ensure HRIS is kept up to date and accurate with new starter and all employee changes information
  • Carry out Identification, Right to Work in UK, BPSS and DBS checks
  • Create and maintain the e-filing system for all new starters, current staff and leavers (adhering to Data Protection guidelines)
  • Carry out a variety of Payroll administrative tasks including pension leaver forms and queries / P45’s / timesheets / claims
  • Carry out administration processes for Staff Benefits and Learning Pool
  • Work with the HR Operations Manager and Business Partners to ensure the on-going accuracy and maintenance of standard letters and contracts at all times
  • Occupational Health referrals
  • Responding to Freedom of Information requests with assistance from HRBP’s if required
  • Be the first point on contact for all HR related queries from internal and external customers
  • Be responsible for the Outlook HR mailbox and your personal inbox
  • Action Leaver process in a prompt and timely manner
  • Assist with training room administration and Talent Development work
  • Manage external reference requests e.g.

    mortgages, new employment, tenancy
  • Processing invoices on Business World On (Finance system)
  • Support any additional special HR projects as required
