Overview of the Site Engineer
2Fawcett are recruiting a Site Engineer for Market Leading Company based in Derbyshire.
The primary role of a Site Engineer is to carry out all setting duties, provide technical guidance to the site team and ensure that all specifications and standards are met so that the project can be built to the highest quality.
Responsibilities of the Site engineer
- Check all project drawings and information for accuracy and consistency
- Ensure that all CAD information is cross checked against contractual drawing for accuracy before being used to set out from
- Ensure that latest information is always being used
- Review information & produce technical RFI schedules for distribution to the client
- Check and confirm primary control stations issued by the client for accuracy, also any temporary stations that are established during the duration of the project
- Carry out a photo-based dilapidation survey of all site boundaries, existing highways and any other potential areas that could be affected by the construction process
- Ensure that all outfall manholes are surveyed and confirmed as correct
- Carry out site topography survey and compare for accuracy against tender information
- Provide technical guidance to site teams
- Carry out all site setting out duties
- Ensure specifications, standards and tolerances are always achieved
- Ensure workload is planned so that the site program can be maintained
- Ensure that correct material testing is carried out in accordance with project testing regime
- Carry out material take-offs and issue to Contracts Mangers for approval
- Have a good understanding of project earthwork volumes/strategy and document any changes
- Promote the use of GPS where possible
- Carry out checks on GPS works to ensure accuracy and tolerances are achieved
- Report any drawing changes to Engineering Manager that will affect GPS models
- Carry out any survey requirements to a presentable standard
- Ensure that the QA management procedures are always complied with
- Ensure that the Engineers QA sheets and records are kept up date and stored correctly within QA file and Project SharePoint
- Ensure all setting out information is translated clearly and simply for use by the site team using the QA sheets or sketches
- Maintain accurate records of any changes during the construction process and communicate these in conjunction with the Surveyor and Contracts Manager for cost and record purposes
- Carry out S104 and S38 surveys to adoptions standards as works progress and not left till the end of the project
- Ensure all survey and GPS equipment in your possession is kept safe from theft, damage and is properly maintained with up-to-date calibration certificates
- Ensure total station calibrations are carried out annually and certificates are issued to the Engineering Manager

Requirements of the Site Engineer
Candidates for this important role must be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum HNC in construction or civil engineering
- 3 years-experience in a similar role with a civil engineering/groundwork's contractor
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Good communications skills
