Maintenance Engineer


A leading pharmaceutical organisation based in Maidenhead are looking for Maintenance Engineers to join their engineering team on a permanent basis, working double days (6-2, 2-10).

Working alongside other Shift Maintenance Engineers you will be responsible for the ongoing reliability of the production equipment by performing planned and reactive maintenance, carrying out fault finding and root cause analysis (RCA) techniques on breakdowns and implementing corrective actions for continuous improvement throughout site.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining key equipment and machinery across the Manufacturing department including, but not limited to Granulators, Tablet Coaters, Fluid Bed Dryers, Blenders, IBC Hoists, Capsule Filling Machines, Co-Mills, Vacuum Transfer Systems, Bin Wash Stations, Tablet Presses, Mixers, Process AHU's and associated equipment.

    Packaging machines including Product Transfer Systems, Blister Packing Machines, Cartoners, Conveyor Belts, Check Weighers and end of line machines.

  • Performing troubleshooting and diagnostic electrical testing across all relevant machinery, as noted above.

  • Programming and general usage of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

  • Provide rapid response to production line breakdowns / machine stoppages, determine Root Cause of failures.

  • Maintenance of GMP documentation, as required by the governing regulator (MHRA) and in line with best practice.

  • Operational Qualification and revalidation.

  • Supporting the wider Facilities and Engineering teams with maintenance planning and scheduling.

  • In addition to the core manufacturing equipment, you may be asked to assist in the maintenance and operations of core utilities (purified water, compressed air systems, Chilled Water Systems, HVAC systems, and various control systems on site)

To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualities:

  • Ideally an appreciation of GMP working environments, including Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging Processes.

  • Experience working with Systems controls and relevant PLCs.

  • Ideally an HND level (QCF Level 4 or 5) or equivalent qualification is a mechanical and electrical engineering discipline.

Suitable candidates will have understanding of control panel electronics, low voltage systems, automation, compressed air systems/pneumatics, chilled water systems, complex printed circuit boards (PCB) and complex control panels used across manufacturing multiple equipment.
