IT Programme Manager - Business Separation and Cloud transformation

An IT Programme Manager is required to join the newly formed IT department of a transport & logistics industry business, supporting separation from group/parent company, insourcing of IT management and a comprehensive IT digital transformation.



As the sole Programme Manager, reporting to the Head of IT, you will play a pivotal role in managing projects and programmes within the IT delivery portfolio.



This is a complex business of circa 1200 IT end-users and numerous sites spread across the county, with significant complex, critical logistical operations.

The programme portfolio, supporting separation of the business from its group parent company (from which it takes IT services) is broad, delivering a holistic transformation of IT solutions and services spanning Infrastructure, applications, data/BI, EUC etc.

Within the roadmap is a shift to IaaS; On-Prem datacentre to Cloud (Azure), major Network transformation; from MPLS to SDWAN, separation of more than 60 applications with multiple complex integrations, Microsoft O365 tool/product implementations, line-of-business digital application projects……..

and more.


This is a unique opportunity, to join a newly forming IT Department (of c20 heads), taking overall ownership for the delivery of a significant IT transformation roadmap.

You will manage a small team (a PM and BA), supporting in both a management and hands-on (PM'ing) capacity.

Responsibilities;



  • Work closely with IT Management to develop the overall IT Programme Portfolio roadmap to support digital transformation and separation

  • Lead and manage the IT digital road map projects to deliver overall transformation

  • Manage projects and programmes from inception through to transition to BAU across the full life cycle of project.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships

  • Support and guide the business to achieve desired goals, creating new programmes in line with the organisations strategic direction

  • Work with the business to define project scope and benefits, as well leading resources and ensuring timely delivery of programmes

  • Establish and maintain programme governance engaging key stakeholders across both IT, Supply Chain, Finance and other functions as required.

  • Report end of project outcomes and evaluate the delivery of benefits

  • Implement project and programme management processes including scope management, planning, change control, communications, RAID management, quality control, cost management and procurement

  • Manage the RFP process for selecting potential vendors and partners.

  • Create project charters and manage the baselining of project and programme scope.

  • Create detailed project plans and timelines in collaboration with the wider project and programme team.

  • Ensure project plans are fully integrated across all delivery teams.

  • Provide open and transparent feedback, status reports, RAID logs and Financial Trackers into the Portfolio to ensure project governance and best practices are followed.

  • Agree and adhere to a Project Governance structure and run regular meetings in agreed cadence.

  • Manage project execution to time, budget and required business outcomes.

  • Integrated change control across the project and programme.

  • Collaborate with other PMs and colleagues across the business and wider PMO



To be considered for this position you will need to have previous experience of IT Programme Management, of a similar nature.



Salary up to £75k + very good benefits, including free train travel, excellent pension, 25 days holiday and more.


Location; Central London with flexibility to work from home three days per week.
Occasional travel to other UK sites required.
