Shift pattern example: 10:30 am – 7 pm, Monday – Sunday as needed.

Byron House Care Home is a little gem of a care home.

We are currently looking for a Bank Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team! With 28 beds, luxurious furnishings and a close-knit team, you will really get to know each and every resident and feel as though you are working in a family environment.

We support elderly residents with a variety of care and nursing needs and the home is conveniently located within a mile of Aylesbury town centre in Buckinghamshire.

What are the responsibilities of a Kitchen Assistant?

As a kitchen assistant you will ensure the kitchen, serveries and equipment is kept clean and to maintain a hygienic, safe and pleasant environment for residents and staff.

You may also be required to assist Chef with the preparation of food.

Your day-to-day duties will include:


  • Prepare meals
  • Load and unload dishwasher and wash up equipment unsuitable for dishwasher
  • Regularly clean all cupboards, shelves, fridges and work surfaces.
  • Assist with the cleaning of serveries and independent kitchens on a daily basis.
  • Collect and distribute crockery from the Service User areas.
  • Empty kitchen rubbish and keep bin clean.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Carry out any reasonable request or instruction from the Home Manager or Head Cook.

About you:


  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a team, a caring nature and a positive attitude 
  • An understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH
  • Previous experience of working in a similar position is desirable but not essential
