Purchasing Assistant

£27,000 - £30,000 + Benefits

A fantastic opportunity now exists for an ambitious purchasing professional to take overall responsibility for the day-to-day procurement and stock planning for one of Europe's leading suppliers of industrial cables and accessories.

Now employing nearly 5000 people worldwide, operating 18 production sites and 44 sales companies it cooperates with approximately 100 national partners worldwide.



Reporting to the Purchasing Manager and working closely with other departments, the role forms a fundamental part of the operations team, ensuring accurate stock management and stock holding at all times, across all categories.



The successful candidate will have a good understanding of purchasing and procurement fundamentals with the ability to prioritise an evolving workload in a fast-paced environment.



Key Responsibilities



  • Full ownership of stock management, including; holding levels, forecasting & buffer management

  • The management and ordering of all stock from third parties, raising Stock Purchase Orders & maintaining ERP

  • Forecast and predict stock at SKU level based on historic data and predicted sales demands, modifying weekly based on actual vs forecast

  • Monitor stock levels, manufacturing and shipping lead times to minimize stock outs

  • Monitor and manage the performance of all suppliers developing relationships with each (UK, EU, India)

  • Understand, minimise and work with sales teams to manage slow moving stock

  • Ownership of new products go live and ensuring correct purchase levels

  • Ownership of ERP stock set up & product system databases

  • Ownership of Shipping / Freight / Duty / Dropship

  • Develop reporting and analysis as necessary to support the business

  • Present periodic cost reviews & initiatives to drive supply chain efficiencies




Skills & Experience



  • Previous experience in a similar buying, purchasing or procurement role, ideally from within a technical industrial.

  • Studying or recently completed CIPS level 4

  • Experience of working closely with UK and overseas suppliers across a range of categories - desirable

  • Excellent negotiations skills and proven background in procurement and stock planning sector
