Responsibilities of the Chemist;

  • Design and execute experimental work programmes for refrigerant applications testing, for example, fractionation studies, quantification of properties such as miscibility or solubility, analysis of compositional shifts, testing of field equipment/s, Gassing and degassing car A/C systems, data logging

  • To check and validate experimental results, to identify rogue or invalid data and to propose how experiments may be conducted more effectively or efficiently

  • To maintain SHE systems and standards for the job holder's work area (e.g., undertaking risk assessments, writing COSHH's), participate as appropriate with R&T SHEQ activities and look for improvement areas relating to refrigerant testing

  • Participation in maintaining and keeping up with good laboratory practice and improvement activities

  • Conducting multiple physical tests, ensuring the refrigerant gas applications are fit for purpose

This position is based at Thornton Science Park in Chester, Cheshire.

To be successful in this position as Chemist it would be preferable to have a background working or as a Graduate placement year within a Laboratory, Plant or other R&D environment, in order to have developed an understanding for the process safety and systems in place.

It will be required to have a degree in Chemistry or other Scientific or Engineering discipline, although previous experience is not necessarily required.

It would be beneficial for the Chemist to have previous knowledge within Engineering, HVAC or refrigeration systems alongside the degree as there will be hands on aspects of this role, although this is not essential.
