The Role:


As the Quality Engineer you'll report to the Quality Manager and will be primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with the quality management system across all departments.



In the job you'll be tasked with:




  • Focal point for all product related quality issues from raw material status to finished product.

  • Liaison with customers to resolve complaints following the 8D process, and ensure all corrective and preventive actions are deployed using the appropriate tools and techniques

  • Liaison with suppliers in the event of non-conforming incoming product, ensuring that the 8D process and supplier rating is maintained

  • Analysis and interpretation of test/process and business data to identify trends and initiate improvements in line with manufacturing excellence and the requirements of the customer/

  • Lead cross functional teams to resolve any non-conformances and identify/develop opportunities for improvement

  • Review/assessment of quality test data against internal/external customer specifications and determine/implement respective actions

  • Carry out quality audits, report on findings, formulate relevant corrective/preventive actions and conduct follow up reviews

  • The study of process deviations and non-conforming products to improve quality and efficiency

  • The review and completion of FMEA and control plans; ensuring continual process improvement

  • Reporting of quality key performance indicators (KPI), including reject ppm (parts per million), reject COPQ (cost of poor quality)

  • Support the APQP and NPI activities and deliver any PPAP requirements

  • Support the QC team in developing SOPs, testing methods and risk assessments

  • Liaise with all departments to ensure internal/external customer needs are met; promoting a culture of continuous improvement

  • Occasional travel may be required, which may be at short notice



The standard working hours for this position are 08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday however flexibility will be required in accordance with the requirements of the role/company.



The Candidate:


The ideal candidate for this Quality Engineer role will need to possess:




  • A proactive approach to safety

  • Ideally qualified to CQI standards and quality management Level 3

  • HNC/equivalent in quality, process manufacturing or engineering preferred

  • Six sigma green/black belt certified

  • Knowledge/skills in applying core quality tools, including 8d, root cause analysis, auditing and APQP

  • Ability to analyse data with attention to detail/accuracy and identify trends

  • Time management skills with the ability to work flexibly/multitask and unsupervised

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to travel at short notice (subject to customer needs)

  • Passion for excellence - takes personal responsibility and ownership for achieving results & objectives

The Package:


Basic salary: Up to £39,898 per annum
