Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits Package
Contract: Monday to Friday Days, Permanent, Full Time

Due to continued expansion our client a leading food manufacturer based near Wakefield is looking to grow their Health and Safety team.

The Health and Safety Advisor position would report to the Health and Safety Manager covering two West Yorkshire sites supporting the business and team with Safety, Health and Environmental compliance.

The Health and Safety Advisor position is a hands on role and will offer variety and challenges but also a rewarding career within a fast paced growing business.

Key Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Advisor position will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the business operates compliantly with H&S, environment and Quality requirements,

  • Ensure all risk assessments are valid, up to date and communicated

  • Carry out weekly inspections to ensure general housekeeping from a SHEQ point of view are being adhered to

  • Providing practical and professional HSE advice/assistance to colleagues and managers

  • Carrying out accident investigations and champion necessary changes required to prevent reoccurrence

  • Identifying and reviewing HSE processes and policies and make recommendations for improvements

  • Help promote a first-class culture of safety first amongst the workforce and proactive behaviours

  • Investigating and responding proactively to HSE concerns and incidents ensuring that recommendations are made and followed up

  • Riddor Reporting

  • HSE Behavioural based assessments

  • Conducting regular Internal Audits

  • Involved in reporting; accident investigations, reviews, COSHH and Risk Assessments

  • Ensure all required training is in place for the various activities within the business, SOP's

  • Looking at Continuous Improvement and where things can be approved

Ideally candidates for the Health and Safety Advisor position will have:

  • A NEBOSH qualification i.e., NEBOSH Certificate and Food Safety qualifications

  • A proven track record of working in a similar position within Food, FMCG or Manufacturing environment

  • The ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within the organisation

  • Strong IT skills with advanced experience of Excel Pivot Tables, Graphs, macros etc

  • The ability to positively influence others is fundamental; requiring you to display both excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; whilst leading by example

  • Dynamic in approach; motivated to succeed

  • Highly organised with great attention to detail

  • Own transport in order to be able to travel between two sites based in West Yorkshire.

Experience in the following, an advantage: Quality Management, ISO 9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO22001, ISO13485, NEBOSH, COSHH
