Transport Manager

Indigo Search have been exclusively retained by this client to recruit for this position.


  • Reporting into the Operations Director, the Transport Manager will be responsible for a high-profile & fast-paced Multi-Drop transport operation providing a high-quality service to blue-chip and SME clients.

  • Responsibility for circa 15 drivers, 10 vans/trucks (LGV & HGV) & a small office team (including Transport Co-Ordinators).

  • A highly dynamic role - where no 2 Days are the same and changes happen all of the time.

  • Working in a hugely dynamic service-driven environment - where things will change constantly.

  • Training of Drivers to deliver a "White-Glove" value-added service to clients as part of their daily tasks.

  • Recruitment, on-boarding and staff retention.

  • Management of Transport operations - including performance, process-improvement etc.

  • You will be front-foot in helping to lead the operation - a big part of this role will be in spotting opportunities to grow revenue for the business.

  • Able to understand client needs and respond to them pro-actively and positively.

  • Management of P&L of approx £1m costs, SLA's etc.

  • Compliance and Legislation adherence.

  • Hours of work are Monday - Friday predominantly.


  • Transport Manager who has held responsibility for Transport operations within fast paced distribution (Day 1 for Day 1 OR Day 1 for Day 2).

  • This person will need to be CPC National qualified - ESSENTIAL

  • Mentality of 'ownership' - you will need to treat this as if this is your own business.

  • Multi-Drop experience is beneficial.

  • B2B or Home Delivery experience is beneficial.

  • Overall management responsibility for at least 25 heads or more.

  • Able to deliver a high quality "white glove service" on behalf of clients.

  • Front-foot & hands-on leadership style - this role is very much a hands-on & full-on transport management role.

  • Able to liaise from shop-floor to Board level.

  • Keen to leave a lasting impact and legacy on the wider business.
