Maintenance Operative

Maintenance Operative (Electronic qualification)


The function of the maintenance operative is the upkeep and maintenance of the care home site including all buildings, mechanical and electrical systems, specialist equipment and all of its general contents.







· To ensure the overall maintenance of the homes are maintained to a good standard






· Maintain the buildings and gardens to the Health and Safety standards as requested by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1976 and standards laid down by the NCSC






· Undertake minor repairs to furniture, doors and undertake carpentry when required.






· Assisting with home closures and openings, moving furniture, transporting equipment as required.






· Minor electrical repairs






· Unblock sinks






· Undertake all decorating requirements.






· Remove commodities delivered to the building to safe storage areas and removal of rubbish to bins






· Maintain the dustbin area






· Responsible for garden equipment and tools






· Responsibility for safe, secure storage of tools






· Keep paths clear of debris and tidy at all times






· Maintain the fencing around the property






· To perform these duties within the company policies and procedures






· To participate in and promote Risk assessment's






· To attend 2 fire drills per year






· To prepare and assist the homes for inspections






· To complete requirements made by CSCI






· To attend regular team meetings






· To carry out any reasonable request from the maintenance manager






· Extensive travel around the homes required within the Region







Essential Requirements:




  • Enhanced DBS; valid within the last 3 years

  • Can provide 5 years referencing

  • Do you have a qualification in electronics

  • Ability to work on a 7 day rota which will include weekends and emergency call outs
