Mach are looking for a Head of Manufacturing to lead people teams and drive performance of a manufacturing site of a FMCG client based in Middlesbrough. 

You will identify and implement key improvements and ensure consistency of approach across the production shift, and be the champion of operational standards and promote team development to achieve goals and KPIs.


Key Duties:

· Develop shift capabilities and improve shift performance

· Ensure that all standards are adhered to 

· Embed an ethos of Continuous Improvement

· Be accountable for all shift outputs

· Establish and maintain good working relationships with key interfaces

· Take full accountability for factory performance in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation and Environment

· Ensure the management and control of shift KPIs

· Ensure the management and control of the SIC process

· Ensure that all non-conformances within the span of control are followed through to satisfactory completion

· Ensure agreed targets for safety and direct labour yield are met 

· Deliver on key performance indicators including; people, quality, health and safety, environment, cost optimization, customer service and project delivery

· Challenge and engage with people 

· Challenge current processes and practices

· Objectively assess the team's performance and develop improvement plans

· Analyse performance data to inform and create future improvement plans

· Proactively investigate new and innovative ways of working to deliver improvement

· Co-ordinate and ensure training and development of the team


Other Duties

· Keep up to date with all relevant legislation and technical changes within our categories

· To be aware of and adhere to all Company policies and procedures.


Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:

· Level 3 H&S awareness

· Risk assessments and safe working procedures

· Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting

· Accident investigation training

· Understanding and application of Line safety inspection

· Root cause analysis

· Minimum of 5 years' experience in factory shift management.

· Computer literate

· Good communication skills

· Experience in change control

· HACCP trained.

· IOSH Managing Safely
