Maintenance Engineer

Mego is proud to be recruiting for a world class, market leading manufacturer based in Plymouth.

Due to a rapidly growing order book our client needs to recruit an elctrically bias maintenance engineer.

The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting site production facilities through the maintenance of plant, equipment, and services, being planned or unplanned tasks.

This role requires the ability to diagnose problems, the knowledge to work in a safe manner as shown through the task risk assessment and the ability to communicate clearly with suppliers and on-site personnel.

Responsibilities (Not limited to)-

  • Work with the team to ensure it meets its 5 s performance targets.

  • Ensure 100 % compliance of working on a task only once a risk assessment is in place.

  • Identify repeat problems and assist in the corrective actions to remove the cause.

  • Breakdown repair of existing plant and machinery.

  • Installation of new and existing machinery.

  • Assist with machinery moves.

  • Implement and support TPM/PPM across the site.

  • Electronic record keeping of machine repair details and stock.

  • Be aware of hazards around the site and be proactive in identifying them and supporting removal of hazards identified by others.

  • Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner as per the priority set by production.

  • Work with the production team to assist with the installation of new machinery.

  • Ensure PPM activities are carried out within scheduled times and arrange machine release if required.

  • Repairs of plant and machinery.

  • Risk assessment of all work tasks and contractor inductions.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience within an Electrical Maintenance role

  • Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering/ Electromechanical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering experience would be highly desirable

  • Minimum of a BTEC Level 3 or ONC (or equivalent), HNC or above would be highly desirable.

  • Ability to undertake shift work (Annualised Hours pattern

    *), overtime and call outs as required

  • Effective communication skills including internally and with Contractors

  • Able to wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes and safety glasses.

  • Previous Electrical Maintenance experience within a Manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.

  • Good IT Skills

  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a medical examination and a drug and alcohol test.

The annualised hours shift pattern involves working a 1 in 6 pattern - i.e.

every 6 weeks you will be required to work 1 week of nights, 1 week of backs and 4 weeks of days.

Included within this rotation is a requirement to work 1 weekend every 6 weeks (with days off to accommodate during the week).

Night shifts are 10pm - 7am, back shifts are 3pm - 10pm and day shift is 7am - 3pm.

In the event of any absence in the department, you may be required to work a 1 in 5 rotation.
