Optical Network Technical Support Engineer

I'm recruiting for Optical Network Technical Support Engineer experienced in Microwave, DWDM, SDH and optical technologies based in Reading.

To manage the timely resolution of all customer optical (DWDM) and microwave technology trouble tickets.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.


Job Responsibility


Network Technical support engineer will be responsible for managing the timely resolution of all customer optical (DWDM) and microwave technology trouble tickets for all Huawei provided services Specifically, this position will receive, log and track to closure all customer trouble reports.

It will diagnose and isolate circuit troubles to the furthest point in the Huawei managed network, and will refer and coordinate the repair and maintenance of troubles through the appropriate engineering work center or NOC.


The individual must exercise independent judgment and usually works with minimal supervision.

Perform the L2 support by technologies, performance management, configuration management, capacity management, escalation management and security management for the Optical Transmission & microwave network equipments or any other system as required.


Knowledge & Experience



  • Experience in Microwave, DWDM, SDH and optical technologie

  • At least 3 years experience as an optical/microwave engineer/technician in a service-orientated telecoms environment

  • Experience of implementing and supporting multiservice networks in the UK telecoms environment.

  • Experience of being the lead customer facing engineer dealing with technical issues.

  • This position also requires the engineer familiar with

  • Operating System ( Linux/Solaris/Unix ) ,

  • Microsoft/HP/Oracle server hardware structure,

  • Database (Sybase/MS SQL ) ,Symantec

  • VERITAS/Watchdog , experience on the above software trouble shooting ;
