Python Developer

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Senior Python Developer to work in Exeter.

The role it self is mainly remote with travel to the office only required once a month

You will with a team of developers to support a python testing framework to maintain and deliver a Web Map Service (WMS) to enable Meteorological map images to be rendered via a simple http interface.

The system is hosted on an AWS platform using third party application software to provide an OGC compliant WMS that is tested using code developed in python.

Your role will be to maintain and develop the testing framework to support the current and future development of map images.
Job Responsibilities

• Plan and lead development on set of related stories


• Have an understanding of the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others


• Work with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built


• Coach and mentor more junior colleagues


• Operate the production services you build


• Find ways to improve system robustness, resilience and stability

Essential Criteria

• Minimum 5 years Python programming experience


• Experience of Object-orientated design and application of design principles


• Experience configuring automated tests using Python


• Experience of implementing software design patterns


• Experience using Git for version control


• Experience of leading small a team of developers and providing coaching and mentoring for their development

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of using Pytest


• Experience of packaging Python applications


• Experience of making API requests using Python


• Knowledge of OGC Web Map Services


• AWS Certified Developer - Associate
