Vetting Assistant

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Vetting Assistant to work within the Lancashire Constabulary on a 3-month contract.

Location: Lancashire Constabulary HQ (Hutton)

Job role/description:
To provide an effective and efficient administrative support service to the Vetting Unit.



  • To receive and prepare vetting files for processing, including checking forms for completion, errors, and omissions, chasing missing information and initiating checks to other Departments.

  • To create and maintain vetting records, computerised and manual, ensuring accuracy and timeliness are maintained.

    Updating records relating to leavers and career breaks etc.



  • To assist with routine enquiries received through the mailboxes.

  • To process aftercare enquiries as directed.

  • To provide general clerical and administrative support to the Unit as required.

  • To provide scanning and filing support, archiving, and weeding if required and as directed.

  • To result vetting decisions if required and as directed.

  • To handle personal and sensitive information appropriately, always maintaining confidentiality.

  • To be responsible for improving own performance.

  • To demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high standards of service at all times.

  • To promote and comply with Lancashire Constabulary's policies on Equality Act 2010 and health and safety both in the delivery of service and the treatment of others.


Essential experience/skills:



  • Experience of working in an administrative/clerical role within a busy office environment.

  • Experience of working with sensitive information and always maintaining confidentiality.

  • Experience of dealing with basic enquiries.

  • Experience of contributing effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience of inputting, updating, and maintaining computerised and manual filing/recording systems.

  • Experience of using Microsoft Software Applications, including MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access.

  • Ability to evidence accuracy in previous work undertaken.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Equality, Community Race Relations, and Data Protection legislation/issues.
