Regulatory Affairs Manager

As the Regulatory Affairs Manager the focus of this role is to co-ordinate knowledge and lead efficient control of new and current UK legislation for our UK businesses, whilst keeping pace with EU legislation in conjunction with our Gent headquarters.

The Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for driving and coordinating activities in the UK and Ireland, to meet business objectives and legal requirements in close cooperation with the Corporate Team and internal stakeholders

The company is a market leading chemical manufacturer operating on multiple sites throughout the UK and Europe.

To maintain their status as a market leader within the sector, this manufacturer has ambitious but stable expansion and investment strategies over the next 5-10 years in which this individual as Regulatory Affairs Manager will be key to delivering and facilitating.

Responsibilities of the Regulatory Affairs Manager;

Address and action relevant information and guidance to each UK company in an accurate and timely manner.

The following areas are specific examples:

  • Be fully conversant with GB-BPR (Biocidal Products Regulations) and prepare submissions for active substances and related products to required deadlines (to include Eire's biocidal products regulations / PCS numbers)

  • Be fully conversant with UK REACH regulations and ensure chemical substance dossiers are submitted to cover UK REACH compliance for all UK companies' product ranges (including export to the EU)

  • As part of UK and EU REACH guide the generation of Safety Data Sheets to ensure UK and EU compliance using group-approved software (prior knowledge of ExESS is not required)

  • Monitor Classification, Labelling and Packaging legislation (CLP/GHS) and provide notifications of EU changes and where UK classifications may deviate from EU in the future

  • Ensure any EU Poisons Centres Regulations requirements are caried out to the extent they apply in the UK and EIRE

  • Provide guidance to UK Companies to be able to comply with (EU) Explosive Precursors Regulations and the export and import of hazardous chemicals regulation (PIC, Prior Informed Consent).

  • Work closely with site-based Health, Safety and environmental teams to monitor the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) status of UK sites and action any required legislative activity, co-operating with relevant regulators to ensure adherence to the current agreed COMAH statuses and intervention plans.

To be successful in this position as Regulatory Affairs Manager, an established technical background with experience in a production or operations environment would be beneficial.

Additionally experience being familiar with COSHH regulations would put candidates at a distinct advantage.

Candidates will require a university degree in chemistry, toxicology, pharmacy, life or environmental sciences or suitably qualified via experience or other similar qualifications.
